Description : HOME ATTENDANT JOB SUMMARY : Specific tasks for homemakers employed by Calcasieu Council on Aging include but are not limited to routine housekeeping duties.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILTY : Individuals assigned to this position are responsible for accurate reporting of units of service provided to the applicant.

Must be fully informed of services available in the community, including entitlement programs, and must maintain complete confidentiality in all matters concerning applicants.

The Homemaker will work diligently with the Outreach and Homemaker Supervisor to ensure cost efficient and cost-effective measures are taken in providing the service to the applicant.

The Homemaker is directly responsible and reporting to the Calcasieu Council on Aging Outreach and Homemaker Supervisor.DUTIES :

Kitchen duties are to routine ones, such as washing dishes, drying them, and putting them away in proper areas. Clean countertops, tabletops, sweep and mop floors.

No heavy cleaning of ovens, stoves, refrigerators, or other appliances. It is permissible to clean and wipe down interior of refrigerator and dispose of spoiled food at client’s request, and time permitting.

Living areas will be dusted, swept, vacuumed, and mopped, depending on flooring. No lifting or rearranging of furniture.

No climbing will be allowed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES :

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effective with fellow employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Requires standing long periods of time, reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting.
• Requires the ability to walk.
• Physical ability and manual dexterity to fulfill job requirements.
• Must maintain a clean, neat appearance and friendly personality always, especially dealing with the elderly population.
